There is a flash mechanism inside that detects when a BB is passing through, so when used with glow-in-the-dark BB's the flash illuminates them. In night games you can clearly identify where your BB's are travelling, allowing you to correct your aim etc. Of course, you can use it just for cool factor since it effectively makes your gun look like something from Star Wars.
