Sniper rifles are typically bolt action rifles, designed for longer engagements. In the airsoft world, they're typically spring powered bolt action rifles, which offer quieter operation than the likes of electric rifles, allowing for players to stay hidden, and sneak more effectively.

With a typical range of 30-40 meters, you can sight in on man-size targets with relative ease, especially when using heavier BB's. This rifle is manufactured by WELL, and is based on Tokyo Marui's renowned VSR-10 system. It is a classic design bolt action rifle, however this variant has a shortened barrel (bull barrel), making it more effective in airsoft as it allows you to move unimpeded, and the barrel doesn't give your position away.

Constructed out of metal and plastic, the body is lightweight but durable ABS, giving it a sleak and tactical look. The upper receiver (barrel, bold assembly, trigger box etc) are all metal, giving the rifle great heft and feel. On the top of the receiver you have a RIS/RAS rail allowing you to mount a scope (not included) directly, and improve your precision. On the bottom of the body you have another small RIS/RAS rail designed primarily for bipods. A bipod offers greater stability to your shots, cutting down on the variance between each BB, and further improving your accuracy. This set includes a metal folding bipod, with adjustable legs.

On the bottom of the receiver there are two sling points, allowing you to run a two point sling, making it a lot easier to carry. This may sound like a small improvement, however having sling points makes it a lot easier to run the sniper rifle in conjunction with a sidearm, as you can more easily switch to your semi-automatic pistol, and stay in the game for longer.

One of the biggest benefits of the bolt action rifle is that they're spring powered (i.e. manually cocking) - simply pull the bolt back to cock the piston, and push it forward to load a BB. There is no batteries to charge, or gas to run out of - you're always ready to play. It has an adjustable hop up, allowing you to dial in your shots, and adjust your range depending on the distance you're shooting at.

The VSR-10 system is a firm favourite of the airsoft sniper because of the wealth of upgrade parts available. You can tweak the performance of this rifle, and squeeze the most of the airsoft sniper role.
