Pistols are generally used as a sidearm, or back up for your primary, however that doesn't mean that's all they can be used for. If action movies have taught us anything, it's that with a pistol, you're unstoppable! Smaller, more compact, and easier to use, pistols are a lot of fun, whether you're gaming every weekend, shooting targets out your back garden, or just like adding another awesome piece to your collection.

Blowback can be a confusing term - in effect, it means simulated recoil. In other words, it is more realistic, and as a result more fun! Airsoft guns will never achieve the same level of recoil as the real steel counterparts, however it will still put a smile on your face every time you pull the trigger. Due to the nature of the blowback systems, there are more parts, requiring a higher degree of maintenance to keep everything in tip-top shape, but the benefit is a more realsitic experience, and greater satisfaction with every shot!

This replica is powered by green gas, although the name is something of a misnomer. It's stored in the bottle (and magazine/pistol) as a liquid, and needs heat to turn into a gas. As you can imagine, each shot uses up the ambient heat, and the gun cools down. The colder it gets, the less efficiently it operates (this is called cool down). Practically speaking, it means you will cycle through the different pressures of gas based on the temperature/climate i.e. in the colder months, you'll likely use 150 PSI gas, in the summer you'll use green gas (or 110/120 PSI), and for the indeterminate weather conditions, most likely you will rely on 130 PSI.

Unsure what gas to use? Using lower pressure gas will not damage your replica in any way, so it is safer to start lower, and only move up a pressure class (i.e. from green gas to 130 PSI, or 130 PSI to 150 PSI) when the replica is not performing as expected.

To refill with gas, remember that it is actually a liquid, so you will need to have the pistol/magazine and gas bottle upside down to fill. Line up the fill nozzle with the fill valve, press and hold it into position and keep in place until full. Generally it takes about 10 seconds for a full fill, however larger magazines may take longer. For best results, fill up with gas when the magazine/pistol and gas bottle are cold, and warm up the magazine before use. This allows the gun to have more gas available, and increases the pressure inside the magazine.

KJW follow suit with a lot of airsoft manufacturers, insofar as they are known by several names and monikers. KJ Works, Kuan Ju Works, LS (although they have officially split from KJW) - they are a Taiwanese manufacturer, primarily concerned with pistols, although that is not all they do. With sniper rifles, GBBR's, parts, accessories, and more.

They grew in popularity as they were one of the earliest manufacturers, producing metal replicas when much of the competition were still dealing in ABS plastic. Generally, their designs are based off Tokyo Marui, giving them widespread compatibility, and generally solid performance. Of course, they were not satisfied to sit in the shadows, and they instead innovated delivering Co2 powered replicas, as well as engineering their own models such as the CZ series, M700 sniper, M4 GBBR, and more. Out of the box performance is great, but the recoil thanks to the metal slides is what really seals the deal. Amongst airsofters, KJW are incredibly popular, and this has lead to their guns getting official stamps of approval in the form of licensed replicas, serving as the OEM for ASG, Cybergun, and many others.

Alongside their guns, they also produce a massive range of parts, allowing you to accessorise and customise your replicas, as well as repairing/upgrading them for best performance.

The Browning Hi-Power is an instantly recognisable gun, and produced by FN-Herstal. Its name comes from legendary designer, John Browning, from the 1911 fame! Unfortunately he did not survive long enough to see it complete, but it carries his legacy with pride.

It is a higher capacity pistol (in real steel) than many of its contemporaries, however given it was first released in 1935, that's not saying a whole pile!

This pistol is the MK3, or Mark III, and has had revisions on its design to make it more ergonomic. This iteration has been seen in TV and films for years; Patriot Games, Casino, Dog Soldiers, and even guest-starred in several CSI shows. Where many 90's kids encountered it first is Resident Evil 2, and its use by protagonist Claire Redfield. But even if you've never seen it before, there's no denying that this is a good looking gun!

Manufactured by WE, this replica is full metal, weighty in your hand, and thanks to the realistic silver finish, this looks incredible. The black grips give an excellent contrast to the piece, whilst also serving improved comfort over the original shape. Powered by green gas, this pistol operates just as the real steel - every shot cycles the slide back to load the next, giving simulated recoil. We recommend using 130 PSI gas, although in the dead of winter you may wish to use something with a bit more of a kick.
