Not all guns are ready to accept a silencer out of the box, and if they are, it might not be with the silencer you want. That's where adapters come into play - you can add an adapter to your rifle, or silencer, to facilitate the attachment of a barrel extension, silencer/suppressor, or tracer unit. Adapters are usually quite specific, so you will need to know the brand of gun you have, and the thread diameter you need. Most pistols are 11mm, but it is not standard, and some deviate quite drastically. In fact, some have the same size thread, but a different pitch, requiring a different adapter.
