In the world of modern pistols, the striker-fired polymer designs are growing increasingly more popular.

The Springfield Armory XDM is a .45 calibre pistol with a 1911-style grip safety, as well as a EU-Series style trigger safety. Another added precation is that it has a loaded/cocked indicator letting you know if it's primed to fire.

This replica is manufactured by WE, and is a clone of the Tokyo Marui design. As with the real steel it has a polymer lower and metal slide, and indicator to show when the gun is cocked. It has a 24rd brushed chrome magazine, and is filled from the gas bottles. Filling the magazine is simple; turn the mag upside down and press the nozzle of the can into the valve. Hold until you can't hear the gas going in anymore. This is best done when both the magazine and gas bottle are cold, as this gives superior performance.

Operation of the gun is just as you would expect - load up your mag, rack the slide once and away you go! The safety means that unless the gun is being held it will not fire, but if you need a further trigger lock, you can slide the serial plate to the rear. This is more of a storage safety, as practically speaking you'd never be able to toggle it with any sort of speed (especially in gloved hands!).

This version is the IPSC variant - it has a factory fitted compensator, giving it a more aggressive and interesting aesthetic.

Performance is pretty nice - recoil is sharp & snappy, and the gun is a joy to shoot. The adjustable hop up allows you to sling heavier BB's with ease, boosting performance!
