VFC FN FNX-45
The FNX45 pistol first appeared in airsoft in tan for some ungodly reason, but at last it has appeared in the one true colour...black!
Manufactured by VFC the FNX-45 is a superb quality replica, and quite an interesting airsoft pistol. The fill valve is on the rear of the magazine just below the release valve, and the blowback unit is clearly inspired by Western Arms. That might not mean much to you, but basically translates as "you can shoot upside down" i.e. pointing the gun down does not result in a large cloud of gas.
On top of that the longer (slightly protruding) barrel is an eye-catcher. With a beautiful two-tone look thanks to the black parts (trigger, hammer, iron sights, slide release, barrel etc), and the ability to add an RMR sight without modification it is easy to see why it was so hotly anticipated!
Powered by green gas (sold separately), this gun produces satisfying recoil. The magazine holds a lot of gas, which combined with the aforementioned placement of the fill valve, affords superior gas economy/performance to the more common TM designs. As you would expect this gun has an adjustable hop up, however adjusting it does require some basic disassembly of the piece. You must remove the magazine, pull back the slide & press down the take-down lever (same as on M&P9, SIG X-Five etc). Run the slide off the frame, and voila! The hop up is found on the underside of the slide in the middle - the black wheel controls the amount of backspin achieved; further forward the less hop applied, and further to the rear the more lift you can get. Reassembly is simply the reverse; slide the slide back onto the frame, rack the slide back until the notch lines up with the take-down lever and push it back towards the rear & you're sorted.
