In airsoft, the mainstay (and industry favourite) is the humble AEG. Battery powered replicas, offering superb value, and unmatched practicality. AEG stands for "Automatic Electric Gun", and it really is a case of "What it says on the Tin" - they have an internal gearbox, and motor, and when you pull the trigger the battery spins the motor, allowing the replica to fire. Granted, that doesn't sound terribly exciting, however in reality, it means every time you pull the trigger, your gun fires, and you can get an impressive rate of fire (more BB's down range faster).

Internally, most components of an AEG can be tweaked/upgraded, so you can tinker and customise your replica to suit how you play. Whether you want a faster rate of fire, more responsive trigger, or increase the range & accuracy, with an AEG the world is your oyster. Due to their mechanism, they are quieter than their gas/Co2 counterparts, so you can stay hidden for longer (or if shooting targets out the back, the sound is less likely to irritate the neighbours).

The AK series is incredibly popular, and for good reason. On the battlefield, it is the most common rifle any Military will encounter, and as a result, it has been seen on our television and cinema screens for decades. Although there have been many revisions, the same great design can be seen throughout. Evolving from the STG-44, the AK is iconic - instantly recognisable with unique design language, and impressive capabilities.

In airsoft, thanks to its real-world popularity, you will see many great examples of the AK platform on the skirmish field. Although the barrel length may change, or stock design may differ, an AK will always be an AK, and they offer some impressive benefits for airsoft. Due to the design of the stock, which sits lower than the bore of the rifle, you have additional clearance for face masks (either lower mesh, or full face), making it more comfortable to use.

Internally you have a V3 gearbox, with short type motor housed in a motor cage. Unlike other designs, this cuts down on variance, and is partly what makes this design so reliable. This is one area that the real world and airsoft definitely share - you will be hard pushed to find something more dependable than the AK platform.

Manufactured by CYMA, and constructed out of durable ABS plastic, this electric gun is solidly built, yet light enough to play for the full day. As it is a replica of the full stock AK, there is plenty of battery space; simply push down on the back cover, you can fit most battery types inside.
