JG Steyr AUG A1 (OD), In airsoft, the mainstay (and industry favourite) is the humble AEG

In airsoft, the mainstay (and industry favourite) is the humble AEG. Battery powered replicas, offering superb value, and unmatched practicality. AEG stands for "Automatic Electric Gun", and it really is a case of "What it says on the Tin" - they have an internal gearbox, and motor, and when you pull the trigger the battery spins the motor, allowing the replica to fire. Granted, that doesn't sound terribly exciting, however in reality, it means every time you pull the trigger, your gun fires, and you can get an impressive rate of fire (more BB's down range faster).

Internally, most components of an AEG can be tweaked/upgraded, so you can tinker and customise your replica to suit how you play. Whether you want a faster rate of fire, more responsive trigger, or increase the range & accuracy, with an AEG the world is your oyster. Due to their mechanism, they are quieter than their gas/Co2 counterparts, so you can stay hidden for longer (or if shooting targets out the back, the sound is less likely to irritate the neighbours).

Jing Gong (also known as JG, JG Works, Golden Bow, Golden Eagle, Fuxing etc.), are one of the leading Chinese manufacturers of airsoft products. One of the original cloners (a company that copies an existing design, producing it for significantly lower cost), JG became the defacto standard in airsoft because of their proliferation, and sheer reliability. Producing AEG's for decades, with models such as the M4/M16, AK, SIG, G3, G36, AK, MP5, Steyr AUG, and many more, they have innovated and carved a niche for themselves, occupying some of the best value for money that you can get.

Fuxing/JG/Golden Eagle also produces a wide range of parts from their factory, both internal and external, allowing you to more easily repair and upgrade your replica, or simply to customise it to your heart's content.

Although an extremely futuristic looking gun, the Steyr AUG was actually first designed and built in the 1970's. It is a bullpup style rifle, which means that the magazine is placed behind the trigger - this configuration allows you to fit a longer barrel in a smaller overall package, improving the weapons handling and manoeuvrability to no end. Care has been paid to the ergonomics of the rifle ensuring that it is comfortable to hold, aim and shoot. The integrated vertical grip affords a greater sense of stability when shooting, and allows easier movement & transitions with the rifle.

Manufactured by JG (Jing Gong), this replica is of the AUG A1 and comes complete with the infamous integrated scope. It is 1.5x magnification, making it perfect for airsoft use - much more and it becomes surplus to requirements! The battery compartment is quick & easy access, though the space is quite limited. To insert your battery (8.4v mini - included) simply remove the rubber butt-pad, connect your battery & slot it in replacing the butt-pad and voila, you're ready to go! Much like the real steel, the airsoft gun can fire in both semi-auto and full automatic, though it does not feature a physical fire selector favouring a two stage trigger. Instead to fire in semi you simply pull the trigger half way whilst full auto fire is achieved by pulling the trigger fully to the rear. Of course the gun does come with a mechanical safety, which when engaged prevents the gun from firing.

This gun comes with battery, charger, and a high capacity magazine. The magazine holds 330 rounds, is made out of durable ABS plastic. The gun itself has a high quality metal V3 gearbox; a polycarb piston and metal gears make this gun very reliable. As this is a bullpup rifle, it houses a deceptively long barrel, measuring in at 509mm which gives the gun great shot-to-shot consistency, especially when compared to other smaller-barrelled rifles.
