VMP-1 SMG (GBBR) (Grey), Gas Blowback Rifles, or GBBR's, offer enhanced realism over their counterparts

Gas Blowback Rifles, or GBBR's, offer enhanced realism over their counterparts. As a general rule of thumb, they offer more realistic operation, with simulated recoil for every shot, powered by gas/Co2. This combination is sure to put a smile on your face, as with every pull of the trigger, the realistic reciprocation of the bolt thumps into you, making it more satisfying (and tempting to keep pulling that trigger). Unfortunately, what they improve upon with realism comes at a trade-off - they are not as practical as AEG's, as they have lower capacity magazines, and have to contend with cool down. In other words you will have to count your shots, and choose shots carefully to get the most out of your replica.

Another fantastic benefit of Gas Blowback Rifles is that they have more realistic disassembly (often referred to as "Takedown"), which further adds to the enjoyment of the piece.

GBBR's are closer to real steel guns in many ways, including the level of maintenance required. In order to keep them in tip top shape, you will need to regularly disassemble for cleaning and re-greasing, as well as ensuring everything is put back together properly. This may seem like a negative aspect, however it is where a lot of people get their enjoyment as you are more intricately familiar with your replica.

Green gas is one of the most common propellants used in airsoft. Although it is called gas, it's actually a liquid. When shooting, it uses the ambient heat to turn into a gas, which cools down the gun/magazine, causing it to cool down. As such, it gets less efficient as the pressure drops, and as the temperature decreases. That's why there are several pressures available, so you can compensate for colder conditions - when one gas type is not giving you the performance you need, you can move up to the next pressure.

Green gas is typically propane-based, however as it has a major advantage over propane...to quote Agent Smith, it's the smell! Or lack thereof. Anyone who has used propane, has had the displeasure of the awful aroma, which is absent from airsoft green gas.

Vorsk form part of the Nuprol group, heading up their higher end of the market, producing superb quality replicas, as well as accessories, primarily in gas blowback pistols. With movie accurate replicas of the Punisher pistols, as well as being the first company to listen to the airsofters crying for the Hitman Silverballers, Vorsk consistently deliver on what the airsoft market wants. Their VMP-1 SMG is one of the most popular GBBR's on the market thanks to its compatibility with the KWA MP9, and its impressive out of the box performance compared with its cost blows the market out of the water. Utilising high quality materials for their construction, Vorsk consistently deliver superb quality, excellent feel, and great performance, implementing tight bore barrels in their design, as well as offering great colourways to shake things up.

They also produce a wide range of aftermarket parts and accessories, allowing you to customise and repair your gear with ease, helping further push them into one of the top tier manufacturers. It's no surprise that they're one of the most popular in the industry.

The VMP-1 is a lightweight, compact gas blowback sub machine gun, designed from the ground-up with practicality in mind. Constructed out of polymer, you have a lightweight and performant primary, at home in CQB or full-field play.

The VMP-1 is based on the venerable KWA MP9, bringing the wealth of knowledge and experience from the Vorsk team to the design, resulting in one of the most popular GBBR's on the market. The overall design is compact, with utility in mind. You have a side-folding stock, which carries through the Vorsk identity in the cutouts, which help to make it more unique whilst also reducing the weight, and improving the aesthetic. The result is a skeletonised stock that looks as good as it feels.

The stock was designed to ensure maximum manoeuvrability and comfort when manipulating the replica. To this end, there is a spring-centred tilt which allows you to angle around a corner, whilst keeping the VMP-1 straight, improving accuracy. The tilt tops out at 15 degrees, however its inclusion shows you Vorsk's commitment to excellence. You can of course fold away the stock for transport, storage, or to use the VMP-1 as a pistol; simply lift the locking mechanism and rotate it into position. For the ultra-committed, this would of course facilitate dual-wielding epic-ness!

It's strange going on about the stock for so long, but it really highlights Vorsk's careful attention to detail. If you remove the stock, you have a thread compatible with AR stock tube screws (AEG), which means that if you want to change things up, you can! Or similarly, if you wanted to add a QD sling point, you can!

The ergonomics of the VMP-1 are superb - the pistol grip has been enhanced with moulded stippling for improved handling and comfort, and when used in pistol mode, the fibre optic iron sights give you fast target acquisition allowing you to get BB's down range faster. You can use the sights with the stock folded out, however it is a more difficult sight picture to align, as such it is recommended to run a red dot sight on the top RIS/RAS rail. When used in pistol mode, it is only 345mm long, making it more than manageable.

This SMG is at its best at 30 meters and below, and let's be honest...most airsofters are at their best at similar engagement distances, so don't let that put you off. It can of course shoot further, however variance in shot-to-shot grouping becomes a bigger issue at longer distances. Still, given its tactical capability, it is easy to see why it is so sought after. You have plenty of rail estate to add accessories, and the controls are all within easy reach, and are intuitive to use; fire selector, magazine release, bolt release, and fire selector - all within the rich of a finger or thumb, without having to change grip position.

This SMG has a trigger safety akin to the Glock style of pistols, ensuring you only shoot when you mean to. It has an adjustable hop up, and it is simple to adjust. You need a dedicated tool to dial it in (included); simply pull the bolt back, and use the included key to adjust for more/less backspin. Paired with its 48 round magazines, you can see why it is easily one of the best GBBR's on the market today. And that's not to mention its 6.03mm tightbore barrel, and System 7 hop up unit & bucking.

Due to the nature of this design, the bolt is quite compact, leading to great gas efficiency. This makes it even more practical, and with 48 BB's in the mag, you're ready for action!
