Glasses are one of the most popular forms of eye protection in airsoft, as they offer the least impedence to your natural vision, preserving excellent peripheral views. They're typically low profile, and breathable, although you can get glasses that offer a full seal around the eyes. There are a number of important considerations to bear in mind when choosing your pair of glasses - what lens type do you want (polycarbonate or mesh), the securing method (strap/stems), and colour.

Polycarbonate lenses offer the greatest protection - there is a solid barrier between you and the world. There are no small holes for dirt, grit, or fragments to get in, and your vision is unimpeded. Unfortunately due to their solid nature, if it is hotter inside the glasses than outside, they can steam/fog up, reducing your vision. This can be treated with anti-fog solutions, however it is the biggest reason for mesh glasses' popularity. Mesh is a steel mesh lens, giving you small holes to see through - this means that small particulates can get through, and also means that vision is reduced (especially when moving between areas of varying light i.e. from inside to outside). However, because they can never fog up, the vision you have is constant and predictable, which many prefer.

When choosing glasses, you can have ones that use an elasticated strap, or stems. Stems are more comfortable, however the strap is more secure. It is simply a case of balancing comfort with protection. The lens colour only plays a role for polycarbonate glasses, but you can typically choose between clear (natural), smoked (high sunlight), or amber/yellow (amplify natural light).
