Goggles offer superior protection over glasses due to their full seal around the eyes, reducing the possibility of any small particulates getting through. Much like glasses, there are multiple styles available, from polycarbonate lenses to mesh, varying shapes, and of course, colours.

Polycarbonate lenses are solid, providing a complete barrier between you and the outside world. Unfortunately this barrier means that you can steam/fog up in the thick of battle. You can alleviate this somewhat with anti-fog solutions, however this is where mesh really comes into its own. Mesh lenses are steel with small holes that you can see through, and although your total vision is reduced, it never reduces further as they cannot fog. This makes it more predictable, and easy to see why they're so popular.
