The M14 was the next evolution from the M1 Garand, and saw its introduction around the Vietnam conflict. Despite its drawbacks, it was beloved by the soliders during the war, and most were disheartened to see it replaced by the M16.

In airsoft, the M14 is a long rifle designed with accuracy in mind, with a more classic-looking body, long barrel, and generally is used as a DMR (designated marksman rifle). Featuring a version 7 gearbox, this gun is reliable, and has great performance, however please note that they are more complicated for repairs/upgrades and maintenance. Unfortunately this is the price for awesome unique pieces of kit that most people don't have!

The Socom version has a shortened barrel, however still is substantial (400mm). Capable of semi-auto and full auto, the M14 has an unusual set up for fire selectors and safety lever. The safety is inside the trigger guard, which both physically blocks the trigger as well as disengaging it, and the fire selector is on the right hand side by the rear-sight. The battery is stored into the stock; simply pop off the rear cover, and you have a large storage for batteries, giving you fantastic battery options. The DMR body has an integrated adjustable cheek rest, allowing you to find a more comfortable cheek-weld when shooting.

The M14 Socom DMR has an integrated RIS/RAS rail facilitating the addition of optics and other accessories, without the need for an adapter. Due to the position, it is best suited for red dot sights. If you're mounting a scope, it is recommended to use an M14 scope mount.
